A Change of Scenery

There are still many a day when life seems like an uphill battle here.  Climbing, striving, pressing forward.  It's perseverance with joy but perseverance nonetheless.  So it came as a very timely relief for me to travel to another city on the coast this week in order to lead a two-day language-learning workshop.  Just the change of scenery alone was such a blessing to my soul.

A morning run along the boardwalk...

Taking time to slow down and enjoy the little details of life here...

An afternoon alone with a hot drink & encouragement from saints of old Newton, Simeon, and Wilberforce who have gone before me and ran this race of life with endurance...

And, of course, familiar flavors that make me smile.  I'm not ashamed to admit I ate Subway four times in three days.

Although I was a bit weary from being on my feet all day during the workshop, my heart felt refreshed from getting away from it all, if only for just two days.  Now we've changed gears and are getting ready for our next change of scenery--Africa!
